Tipping someone with TipIns

A customer scanning a QR code tip sign with their phone camera

Short answer: point your phone camera at the QR code, choose an amount and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. You do not need an app or an account.

Step by step

  1. Open your phone's camera and point it at the code. Tap the link that appears.
  2. Check the name and picture: that is who you are tipping.
  3. Choose an amount. The fees are added on top by default so they receive the full tip; untick the box if you prefer.
  4. Pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card.

Is it safe?

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach TipIns. A "Verified" badge means the person has passed Stripe's identity check.

Refunds

A tip is a voluntary payment and is generally not refundable. If you tipped the wrong person or amount, contact admin@tipins.net straight away.
